Comprehensive Addiction Recovery Empowerment (CARE) Talk on Substance Abuse Disorders

Saturday, October 7th 2017, from 5-10pm, at the Virginia Historical Society (428 North Boulevard, Richmond VA), a number of organizations oriented to addiction recovery are holding a Comprehensive Addiction Recovery Empowerment (CARE) Talk, on the subject of substance abuse and its solutions in Virginia. Speakers will include Attorney General Mark Herring, gubernatorial candidate Ed Gillespie, Anne Moss Nimocks Rogers, Michael Zohab, Richard Jones, Thomas Bannard, and Dr. Sarah Scarbrough.

2nd Annual RVA Breastfeeding Symposium: the Intersection of Health, Race, Policy, and Practice

Affordable Care Act Open Enrollment Help at the Hull Street Library

Every other Tuesday and Thursday from December 13th, 2016 to February 7th, 2017, from 10am-12pm, at the Hull Street Library (1400 Hull Street, Richmond VA), staff from the Daily Planet will be on site to answer your questions about the Affordable Care Act and the enrollment process. 

If you need to apply to enroll in health insurance through the state marketplace for 2017, the deadline is January 31st. On December 31st 2016, your 2015 coverage will end, and if you don't take action to change or drop it, you will be automatically re-enrolled.

World AIDS Day Candlelight Vigil in Carytown

Thursday, December 1st 2016, from 5:15-6:30pm, starting and ending at the parking lot of the Carytown Martin's (3522 West Cary Street, Richmond VA), Health Brigade and the Carytown Merchant's Association are partnering to hold a silent march and candlelight vigil for World AIDS Day.

Interfaith World AIDS Day Observance

Thursday, December 1st 2016, from 7-10pm, at the Holy Rosary Catholic Church (3300 R Street, Richmond VA), there will be an interfaith observance to commemorate the lives lost to AIDS and learn about the current state of HIV/AIDS and relevant public health measures. The observance will be followed by a reception.

Free HIV Testing at the Capital Area Health Network

Thursday, December 1st 2016, from 10am-1pm, the Capital Area Health Network (719 North 25th Street, Richmond VA) is offering free HIV testing. If you have a test done, you may elect to be entered into a drawing for a $25 Visa gift card.
